使役動詞（have, make, let, get）
「人に〜させる」を表す使役動詞の問題です。TOEICは使役動詞の後に続く動詞の形（原形・to不定詞・過去分詞）を正確に区別できるかを問います。
Rules
- have / make / let + 人 + 動詞の原形（例：have him call）。
- get + 人 + to + 動詞の原形（例：get him to call）。
- have / get + 物 + 過去分詞（例：have the car fixed）。
Examples
"The supervisor had the technicians repair the server immediately."
had + 人（technicians）+ 原形（repair）。技術者が自ら修理する。
"We need to get the contracts signed by Friday."
get + 物（contracts）+ 過去分詞（signed）。契約書は署名される側。
"The new software allows users to get their work done faster."
get + 物（work）+ 過去分詞（done）。
What TOEIC specifically tests
- make や let の後に to不定詞を置く（make him to go は誤り）。
- get + 人 の後に原形を置く（get him do it は誤り）。
- 動作を受ける物が目的語なのに原形を選ぶ（have the car repair は誤り）。
Common questions
have him do と have it done の違いは？
動作をする人が目的語なら原形（do）、動作を受ける物が目的語なら過去分詞（done）を使います。目的語が人か物かで判断できます。
help も使役動詞と同じ扱いですか？
help は原形と to不定詞のどちらも取れます。help him finish でも help him to finish でも正しく、この点が他の使役動詞と異なります。
